1st Skills Tutoring is committed to developing young minds - at all levels of academic achievement.  Founded by Debbie Mandell,  a credentialed teacher from Greenwich CT with a Masters degree in Education and a further sixth year degree in Education from the Connecticut State Universities, we believe in customizing our tutoring services to maximize student success. Furthermore we believe that a child's strengths and natural ability should be enhanced to provide a firm foundation for learning - Debbie often warns against a "Cookie cutter" approach to educating children. Likewise, we want our tutors to subscribe to the same philosophy of customizing education to provide the strongest support. The tutors we seek should be experienced, credentialed, caring and have the time to commit to this part-time position.  Tutor candidates will go through a rigorous screening process before they join our team. 

Our learning center is the student's own home, an environment that is safe, familiar and comfortable, and which makes it easy to focus on the task at hand. Likewise, the tutor's environment is also their own home or office, thereby allowing the tutor to dedicate more time and thought per student by eliminating the worry of travel, traffic and their associated costs. We strive to mitigate hassles and distractions to learning while emphasizing student engagement and individualized attention.
